Field Day Launches Community Engagement Platform

Company completes successful beta program and rolls out general availability to help companies engage their employees with local nonprofits
September 21, 2022

PORTLAND, ORE., September 21, 2022 - Field Day, a Portland-based startup that connects employers and their employees with nonprofits in their local communities, today announced general availability of its community engagement platform. With Field Day, companies and teams can build social capital and organizational leaders can discover insights to address challenges of employee engagement and retention.

The community engagement platform provides employers with discovery of volunteer opportunities with local nonprofit organizations, event coordination, and social impact tracking and reporting. Field Day also offers nonprofit organizations a free, easy-to-use volunteer event management tool that tracks their engagement and helps build and manage long-term partnerships with local companies.

“Now more than ever, employers are looking for ways to attract, retain and energize talent through programs that create connection between their people,” said Eli Blackman, Chief Executive Officer at Field Day. “With Field Day, employers can actively support both employees and local nonprofits through meaningful and data-supported social impact programs."

"While we've been intentional about culture at Zapproved from the beginning, transitioning to remote underscored a need to revitalize our employee programs and bring people together with a joint purpose," said Monica Enand, founder and Chief Executive Officer at Zapproved. "I highly recommend Field Day to employers who want to strengthen culture through getting involved with local nonprofits. Without it, the administrative burden would have kept our teams from having these meaningful experiences."

Field Day’s successful Portland-focused beta program involved 16 companies, including their remote employees. Teams have connected with the more than 40 nonprofit organizations on the platform, engaging employees in meaningful ways while saving time on program and event logistics. Field Day was founded in 2021, initially working with Portland-area companies and nonprofits with plans to expand.

“Throughout the pandemic, a lot of our business relationships fell off the map. Reconnecting has been difficult," said Tim Merrill, volunteer supervisor & education content organizer at Lan Su Chinese Garden. "Field Day fills that gap of connecting us, as a nonprofit, with businesses that want to engage their people through volunteering. And managing the event pages directly on the platform provides a significant upgrade in communication with the volunteers, where everyone feels included.”

Field Day announced an initial funding round led by defy.vc, with participation from Voyager CapitalCascade Seed Fund and strategic angel investors in December 2021.
