Field Day, a social impact platform that powers volunteer and donation programs for companies and nonprofits, today announced the 4K4Community Fun Run, taking place at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 and starting and finishing at World Trade Center Portland. Registration is open at 4k4community.com.
The 4 km (2.49 mi) running and walking event raises funds for local nonprofits with programs that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within their areas of focus. This year’s event has expanded to include four nonprofit beneficiaries: POIC, Birch Community Services, Forest Park Conservancy, and Path Home.
The 4K4Community is a continuation of the 4K 4Charity Fun Run series, started by Portland-based AWS Elemental in 2014. After supporting the new incarnation of the run in 2023, AWS Elemental has returned as a gold-level sponsor for 2024.
New for 2024, Technology Association of Oregon has joined Field Day as a production partner for the event.
"We believe in the power of technology to build an economically competitive region, and recognize the role diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging play in that,” said Skip Newberry, President and CEO of the Technology Association of Oregon. "As an initiative that helps build a more equitable ecosystem, we've been a consistent supporter of the 4K4Community since its inception. We're excited to now support the event in an official capacity."
The finish line celebration will feature food, drinks, raffles, and a nonprofit fair, where participants can discover ways to support Portland area nonprofits working towards program-specific diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
"The expansion of nonprofit beneficiaries recognizes the interconnectedness of the organizations working to make Portland as inclusively livable as possible," said Eli Blackman, co-founder and CEO of Field Day. "We're proud to highlight a few of the many that serve our community in supporting this mission."
With registration hosted on the Field Day platform, participants can sign up individually or as part of a team, with the ability to share messages and photos with each other before and after the event.
