"If you reveal your secrets to the wind you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees." Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931)
But what would happen if you anonymously revealed your secret by sending a homemade postcard to a complete stranger? What would your secret look like?
Enter www.postsecret.com...A simple community art project turned modern-day confessional for the masses. To participate is very simple:
"You are invited to anonymously contribute a secret to a group art project. Your secret can be a regret, fear, betrayal, desire, confession, or childhood humiliation. Reveal anything -- as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before. Be brief. Be legible. Be creative."
Often described as "graphic haiku," beautiful, elegant, and small in structure but powerfully emotional, new secrets are posted to the website every Sunday. Or you can see the expanded collection in printed form at your local book store.
I am amazed by the raw honesty and the beauty of these one-of-a-kind mini-pieces of very personal art.
And just in case you are wondering...the Easter Bunny secret is not mine (but I do REALLY love dark chocolate).
