A little while back, I got to fiddling around with Apple's Garage Band at home – a great little toy for someone who has no idea about music theory or structure. Within a few short minutes you can put together something that sounds relatively melodic through the use of a multitude of instrumental loops. There are drum loops, guitar loops and horn loops. Synthesizer loops, piano loops and organ loops. Loops, upon loops, upon loops. And then some.
Today I unveil my magnum opus to the world. Well actually, clocking in at a minute and twenty seconds doesn't exactly put it in the same class as The Who's "Tommy", or Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", but it’s the longest song I've ever created.
Ok... it's the only song I've ever created.
I guess I was going for a funky 70's vibe. Maybe something you might hear on "Starsky & Hutch" or "Kojak" as they tracked somebody through a disco or strip joint.
The big problem with this track is that it ends rather abruptly. Why? Because I have no idea how to end it. Told’ya I didn’t know anything about musical theory or structure.
Click the link below and have a listen, dance in your chair if you want or just stare blankly at the wall waiting for it to end. When you're done, tell me what this song should be called. I just don't know what to call this marvelous piece of music.
