THE NEW 'KID' ON THE BLOCK

[03/07/2011]

"Allow myself to introduce myself." My name is Junwoo and I am the newest member of the Field Day team. I am super happy to be here and am looking forward to working with my fellow co-workers and developing meaningful relationships with them.

I was recently asked to write my first entry for Open Field, and after many, many days of deliberating with myself I have decided to share with you something that I am passionate about, besides design, and that’s traveling. I love to travel. I have had a passion for travel ever since I first stepped onto a Boeing 747 at the ripe old age of 3. Of course I didn’t know I had a passion for it until I was in my early 20s, but it sparked something in me.

When you’re traveling in your 20s, you travel with a purpose: to sightsee as much as you can, and to party. Now that I’m in my 30s I travel differently. I try to experience and absorb, as much as I can. I enjoy learning about the different cultures that exist in this giant world of ours and to experience life if I lived in that country.

One of the places I frequently visit is Paris, France. I try and visit the city every other year to visit my baby sister, who lives and works there. I find the city so mesmerizing, and as a designer, I also find it inspiring. What I like about it most is that just when I thought I’ve explored the city completely, I experience cultural things that makes me see the city in a whole new light and it sometimes feels like it’s my first time visiting. With all the times I have visited Paris, my French is still terrible to non-existant.

Here are some photos of my recent trip to the city.
